Hello! And welcome!
I'm Jennifer. The photographer, artist, and editor behind Jennifer Margaret Photography, located in Trail BC.
As a child I dreamt of working as a photographer for National Geographic, specifically working alongside primatologist Jane Goodall. I found her and her work fascinating and was mesmerized by the photos of different cultures, people, and landscapes displayed in their magazines. Obviously I didn't take that path but did wind up with this little business photographing local families and their own little monkeys.
I took photography at SAIT in Calgary back in the film days. It wasn't until after moving to the West Kootenays in 2008 when I jumped on the digital photography bandwagon. Though I still love film photography, the ease of editing digitals and not quickly blowing through dozens of film rolls has won me over.
Having worked as a preschool educator for 11 years, my two passions - children and photography finally collided in 2013, becoming my full-time adventure with an in-home studio in 2014.
Since then, I have attended countless workshops on digital photography, editing, lighting, posing, newborn safety, wedding photography, boudoir styling, and will never stop learning and creating.
When I'm not shooting... it's all about family, friends, road trips, concerts, gardening/plants, and getting my hands busy trying anything and everything crafty & creative.
I have endless thanks and gratitude to the Kootenay community who have welcomed me into their lives with trust and open arms. It's been truly amazing watching so many families grow along with me through the years. I believe that beauty can be found in every little detail and moment that helps to create our life's stories, even in the darkest of darks.
It's been an incredible ride documenting over 60 weddings, more than 300 newborns, and a full hearts worth of other sessions. That's a lot of memories! Here's to making more!
